FAQs
Q: Can I use Timeusb LiFePO4 Lithium batteries as starting batteries?
Timeusb LiFePO4 batteries are not meant to be used as starting batteries. They are specifically designed for energy storage and lack the Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) required for starting applications. For more information, please refer to the article "Deep Cycle VS Starting Battery."
Q: Can I use the Timeusb 12V 100Ah lithium battery for my trolling motor?
Yes, the Timeusb 12V 100Ah Pro lithium-ion battery is compatible with trolling motors with a thrust between 30-70 lbs. If you have any additional questions, we can offer recommendations based on your specific needs.
Q: What is a group 31 battery? Is Timeusb 12V 100Ah Pro deep cycle battery suitable to replace Group 31 battery?
Group 31 batteries are designated by the BCI Group label, have a specific set of dimensions at L13 x W6.8 x H9.44 inches (L330 x W173 x H240 mm) and are suitable for semi-trucks and other deep cycle applications like off-the-grid systems, marine use, etc.
Timeusb 12V 100Ah Pro LiFePO4 Lithium Deep Cycle Battery measures L13 x W6.77 x H8.43 inches. It is a perfect replacement for group 31 batteries.
Q: What are the ways to charge Timeusb LiFePO4 Lithium batteries? Can I charge with solar panels?
There are 3 ways to charge Timeusb LiFePO4 lithium batteries:
1. Using Solar Panels
The battery can be fully charged in one day (with effective sunshine 4.5 hrs/day) by 300W solar panels. It may take more than one day to fully charge the battery by ≥300W solar panels since the duration and intensity of light would be a great factor for their charging efficiency.
2. Using Generator or Alternator
The Recommended Charging Voltage: 14.2V - 14.6V.
The Recommended Charging Current:
① 20A (0.2C): the battery will be fully charged in around 5 hrs to 100% capacity.
② 50A (0.5C): the battery will be fully charged in around 2 hrs to around 97% capacity.
3. Using LiFePO4 Smart Chargers (Recommended)
To charge 12V battery, it is recommended to use 14.6V battery charger.
Of course you can charge with solar panels.
Q: What is the maximum number of Timeusb 12V 100Ah lithium batteries that can be connected?
The Timeusb 12V battery supports a variety of connections, including series, parallel, and series-parallel configurations. You can connect up to 4 batteries in series (4S), 4 batteries in parallel (4P), or 16 batteries in a series-parallel configuration (4P4S).
Q: Can I connect both Timeusb 12V 100Ah Pro and 200Ah Plus LiFePO4 batteries at the same time?
It is not recommended to connect the Timeusb batterie lithium ion 12V 100Ah Pro to the Timeusb 12V 200Ah Plus battery. The main reasons are two points:
①After parallel connection of batteries with different capacities, the current of 200Ah is twice as large as that of 100Ah when charging/discharging at the same time.
②The internal resistance of the 200Ah battery is 2-4mΩ, and that of the 100Ah battery is 7-9mΩ. When the batteries with different impedances are connected in parallel, it is possible to damage BMS after long-term use.
To connect in series or/ and in parallel, batteries should meet the below conditions:
①The same battery capacity (Ah) and same BMS.
②From the same brand (as lithium batteries from different brands have their special BMS).
③Purchased in near time (within three months).
④From the same types of battery.
Q: I have two Timeusb 12V lithium batteries 100Ah Pro and I want to expand the capacity. Can I just add a 12V 200Ah Plus lithium battery?
Unfortunately no. The 12V 100Ah Pro battery has a built-in 100A BMS, and the 200Ah Plus has a built-in 200A BMS, and the capacities of the two battery models are different.
To connect in series or/ and in parallel, batteries should meet the below conditions:
①The same battery capacity (Ah) and same BMS.
②From the same brand (as lithium batteries from different brands have their special BMS).
③Purchased in near time (within three months).
④From the same types of battery.
If you want to expand your battery system, I would recommend adding 2 x 12V 100Ah Pro Batteries.
Q: How long will a 12V lithium-ion battery 100Ah last?
There are two main situations to consider: one for devices that use direct current (DC) and another for those that use alternating current (AC).
For DC devices, battery duration depends on how much power, in watts, these devices require.
For AC devices, you need to think about a few things:
①The Power of the AC device: The power demands of the connected devices or appliances determine the amount of power drawn from the battery, affecting the runtime.
②The efficiency of the inverter that converts DC power to AC power (make sure the inverter can handle the power requirements of the AC device): The efficiency of the inverter affects the overall power conversion and usage, impacting the runtime of the battery.
Keep in mind that actual battery run time may vary depending on the condition of both the battery and the inverter, as well as how the DC/AC device is operating.
Q: Is it better to have 2 12V 100Ah lithium batteries or 1 12V 200Ah Plus lithium battery?
If you need more power, it's a good idea to get a battery with a higher capacity. It's simpler to manage and take care of just one battery. You won’t have to deal with connecting extra batteries or making sure they’re balanced. Plus, one strong battery is usually more reliable because it works more consistently and steadily. It also saves space compared to using two batteries.
With two batteries, you could use one as a backup if the other one stops working.
So, you can decide based on what you need.
